Dr. Wattar is a medical doctor with 13 years of experience in the health care sector and oncology clinical research in Africa, the Middle East, and North America. Taoufik has worked in different health care systems and is well informed about the laws and protocols regulating those systems since he obtained his medical degree in Egypt. He then practiced medicine in Syria and moved to Canada in 2007.

Dr. Wattar has focused on humanitarian aid since he was a medical student and participated in the Syrian Red Crescent to help Iraqi refugees in Syria by providing medical management support and medications in refugee camps in 2004. After moving to Canada, Dr. Wattar did the equivalency of his medical degree and then continued his activities to support underserved areas by performing numerous medical electives in the northern region of Quebec, Canada, where access to resources is severely limited.

In 2009, Dr. Wattar provided Arabic-language support to the Evaluation of the UNRWA Education System. In 2010, Dr. wattar began his clinical research career and was a Project Manager for a Multiple Sclerosis study. Dr. Wattar liaised with two clinics in North Africa- Tunisia to facilitate the conduction of the trial while respecting regulations in Canada and Tunisia by providing guidance and capacity development support to the staff in Tunisia.

In 2014 Dr. Wattar was appointed the Clinical Manager of McGill University’s Medical Simulation Center where he supervised all of the activities in the center, including “Educational and Research Projects”. Since 2016, Dr. Wattar has been working as a clinical monitor for cancer studies confirming that studies are being conducted ethically and in respect to the local and international regulations, and regularly provides UPENDO Consulting Inc. with health advisory services and Arabic-language support.
